The Museum was founded in 1985 by a group of community volunteers who saw both the need and the opportunity to preserve and share the heritage of the textile industry with future generations. We depend upon the assistance of over forty community volunteers for all aspects of our operations. From collections management to building maintenance, from fund raising to managing the gift shop our volunteers play a key role, and are the secret to the museums success. In 2004 the museum began a new volunteer program as a way to say thank you to its volunteers. Since then, we have taken our volunteers on an annual road trip to visit a different museum each year, including behind the scenes tours of the collections areas. Our volunteers also receive invitations to the museums exhibit openings and our annual holiday party. |

| The Friends of the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum are a small group of people dedicated to support the museum in various ways and to assist the museum by funding specific projects. The "Friends" prepare delicious goodies when there is a new opening of an exhibit, provide tearoom service for various functions such as the museum's annual Fiberfest event, hold an annual fashion show that is exquisitely unique, and host an annual dinner/dance. They enjoy the camaraderie of others and welcome newcomers to their group. Many opportunities exist to work with others in support of the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum. Come and join us!
